Let Me Use My Tongue To Speak Life and Blessings

Brad led us in a prayer at the end of Tuesday’s message, “let me use my tongue to speak life and blessings!” I will pick up from there, and talk about the most important words you will ever speak. The book of John chapter 1 says “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.” (John 1:1-2 NKJV)

The most important word that will ever come out of your mouth is the name of Jesus. There is authority in the name of Jesus – all throughout the book of Acts, the apostles healed people in the name of Jesus and they cast out demons in the name of Jesus – there is power in that name! The greatest thing is we have access to that name, and we can do the same things that Jesus himself did, and even greater! Jesus himself said so - “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.” (John 14:12 NLT)

Using the name of Jesus would be to use our tongues for blessing and not cursing. James chapter 3 talks at length about the importance of using our tongue properly and describes the analogy of our tongue being like the rudder on a ship, or like a spark that sets the forest on fire. We need to be extra careful of these things especially in these times, with all that is going on around us. We can’t use our words to draw us into fear, and we can’t accept the world’s circumstances with the words that we speak. We need to speak by faith, and we need to declare God’s promises over our lives as “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” (2 Cor. 1:20 NKJV)

As obedient followers of Christ we have all of these blessings available to us! The word of God declares over you today:

And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath (Deut 28:13a NKJV)

Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. (Romans 8:37 NKJV)

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ (Eph 1:3 NKJV)

The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ (Romans 8:16-17a NKJV)

We pray God bless you, keep you, and we declare you are covered by the blood of Jesus and no deadly thing will harm you or come near you in Jesus’ name!
