Luke 8:15 (NKJV) “But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.” Jesus is talking about the parable of the sower. The Greek word for patience that is used here is hupomone and the meaning of that word is given in The Holy Spirit Filled Life Bible and reads like this, “the capacity to bear up under difficult circumstances, not with a passive complacency, but with a hopeful fortitude that actively resists weariness and defeat.” (Word Wealth on Page 1741) I think I could use some of that hupomone right now, how about you?!
This same word is used in 1 Corinthians 13 (NKJV), “Love bears all things, hopes all things, endures (hupomone) all things.” Another very applicable scripture verse that encourages us to keep on keeping on.
Matt 24:13 (NKJV) says, “He who endures (hupomone) to the end will be saved”, (these words are also found in Matt 10:22 and Mark 13:13). This is the chapter where Jesus is talking about the signs of the end times and He is encouraging us not to lose heart.
You may be feeling frustrated, discouraged, depressed or impatient by what you see around you right now but be patient as the above verses instruct us because its going to get better, see Romans 8:18 (NKJV), “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which will be revealed in us.” Hallelujah!!!
